Staff Sergeant Phillip C. Jenkins, a native of Decatur, Indiana, entered the Army in July of 2002 as an Infantryman.  Upon completion of basic training at Fort Benning, GA, SSG Jenkins was assigned to 3rd Bde, 25th Infantry Division where he served as a grenadier, automatic rifleman, scout, and squad leader.  While assigned to 3rd Bde, SSG Jenkins deployed to Afghanistan for 13 months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Upon completion of his tour of duty in Hawaii, SSG Jenkins was assigned to the US Army Recuriting Command.  After completing his time as a recrutier, SSG Jenkins was sent back to Schofield Barracks, HI where he was assigned to B Company, 1-27th IN "Wolfhounds" of the 25th Infantry Division's @nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team.  SSG Jenkins deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn in July of 2010.
 
Staff Sergeant Jenkins awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Sevice Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Recruiter Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
 
He is survived by his wife Melissa, and his two children Lindly and Piper.
