SGT Jon Michael Schoolcraft III

Sergeant Jon Michael Schoolcraft III was born on December 27, 1981 in St. Mary’s, Ohio. Jon entered the active service in June of 2001.

Upon completion of One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, Sergeant Schoolcraft was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 18th Infantry Regiment, Conn Barracks Germany, where he deployed for his first time in support of OIF II. In June 2005, he joined the Wolfhound family and was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Jon’s spirit, honesty, devotion to duty, and tireless pursuit of excellence inspired all who knew him. Jon’s interests and hobbies included diving, spear fishing, tattoos, and, of course, he was a true Ohio State fan. Jon was an intelligent soldier who would always look for some way to lighten up the mood and make people laugh.

Sergeant Schoolcraft’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Sergeant Schoolcraft is survived by his wife, Amber Leigh Schoolcraft, and his parents, Mrs. Cynthia Hooker and Mr. Jon Schoolcraft.
