1LT Michael L. Runyan

First Lieutenant Michael L. Runyan, a native of Newark, Ohio, graduated from Xavier University with a BS in Criminal Justice and was commissioned as an Infantry officer through the university's ROTC program.
1LT Runyan was assigned to Bravo Company, 52nd Infantry (AT) in August 2009 where he served as an anti-armor Platoon Leader.  He will be remembered for making people laugh, as well as his ability to lead and care for Soldiers.  he loved his girlfriend Shaina and enjoyed golfing and hiking.
First Lieutenant Runyan's awards and decortations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbion, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
He is survived by his father and mother, Jeff and Renee Runyan, his brother Capt Alex Runyan (USMC), and his sister Lesley Hess.
